For the second consecutive year, North Carolina residential solar panel rebates from Duke Energy were claimed, although this year it took less than a day. Business rebates were claimed in a few days, according to a Duke Energy spokesperson, and rebates for nonprofit organizations are still available.
The residential rebates cover up to 10 kilowatts of solar energy, reducing the cost of installation by up to 30 percent. All additional applicants have been placed on a waiting list. Duke is required to offer the program under 2017 state law. — By Jen Kirby
