Sunday Hunting Ban Under Fire?

Dain Palmer, human dimension biologist with the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, says the agency doesn’t have the authority to regulate hunting on Sundays, and that the commission was instructed to conduct the study.

North Carolina is one of just nine states which now prohibit Sunday hunting. The law dates back to 1869 as part of the “blue laws” regarding religious observance. Some other blue laws included banning the sale of pots, pans, and other household items (which were on the books in Texas until 1985) and…the weekend!
Wikepedia says:

Many unusual features of American culture — such as the fact that one can buy groceries, office supplies, and housewares from a drug store — are the result of blue laws, as drug stores were generally allowed to remain open on Sunday to accommodate emergency medical needs. The ubiquitous “weekend” is also a result of blue laws, although it is practiced nearly worldwide, except in some Islamic countries who have their weekend on Thursday and Friday.

I don’t hunt too much, so I don’t really have a stake in this one. What do y’all think?
