Front Porch Blog

Happy Holidays!

Please excuse my post-election blogging sabbatical. I have been working on getting my head back above water with schoolwork, doing some much needed relaxing, and giving thanks (especially for Will, Benji, Sarah, and Anita for taking over the blog and rocking) and for a fortunate lot in life.

Things are on the up and up around the Appalachian Voices office. The blog will be going through a little change of hands for next year, and I’ll be moving on to other mountain-saving endeavors, while still putting up the occasional blog post.

We are looking to use more contributors to the blog next year. That will give those contributors more creative freedom, a broader scope, and time to go in-depth with their stories. I hope everyone enjoys it. And I hope you all had a happy kickoff to the holiday season.

Raised on the banks of the Tennessee River, JW's work to create progress in his home state and throughout Appalachia has been featured on the Rachel Maddow Show, The Daily Kos and Grist. He served first as Appalachian Voices’ Legislative Associate and then Tennessee director until leaving to pursue a career in medicine in 2012.
