Leigh Harrison

Director of Strategic Advancement

Raised on a former tobacco farm in Southside Virginia, Leigh received his undergraduate degree from the College of William and Mary and also holds a doctorate from Cornell University. He joined Appalachian Voices in 2022, working closely with executive and programmatic leadership to plan and direct the organization’s engagement with a wide-ranging array of foundations and other philanthropic institutions.

Before moving to the Charlottesville area to lead fundraising efforts for one of the University of Virginia’s support foundations, Leigh lived in Washington, D.C. While there, he served as a professorial lecturer at Georgetown University and also began his career in nonprofit and higher-ed advancement and communications — securing resources for multiple initiatives at Washington National Cathedral and George Mason University.
