Background

What is scoping?

During the scoping period, FERC gathers input from the public and relevant agencies on potential environmental impacts, reasonable alternatives, and measures to avoid or limit environmental effects of the proposed project. This input will help inform whether FERC requires the developers to do a more thorough environmental review of the proposed project, called an Environmental Impact Statement.
