Energy Democracy for Appalachian Power: New workshops scheduled!

Energy democracy is about giving communities more control over how and where power is produced.

Let's build Energy Democracy in Virginia!

Our (virtual) summer series in Virginia is going strong! We’re happy to announce two upcoming workshops about Energy Democracy and Appalachian Power.

Electricity is essential to modern life — yet few Virginians are able to make choices about the generation or cost of the electricity we use. Our communities bear the costs of an outdated energy system that has dominated our daily lives — and sometimes our elected officials — for decades. This system has worsened climate change, polluted our air and water, and deepened social and economic injustices.

We deserve an energy system that serves the public interest. It’s time to build an “Energy Democracy” so the people who use and rely on electricity (that’s us!) have greater influence over decisions about where it comes from and how much it costs.

Join us on August 25 (Tuesday) or August 26 (Wednesday) from 6 – 8 p.m. We’ll talk about where our energy comes from, how much it costs, and how we can influence Appalachian Power to make decisions that serve the interest of the public rather than investors.

Join either session!
