Sean Sublette
Virginia Field Coordinator
Sean is the Virginia Field Coordinator for Appalachian Voices, where his understanding of weather and climate — and his 20 years as a broadcast meteorologist — helps the people and communities of Virginia understand the science and impacts of fossil fuel burning on the environment.
Before joining Appalachian Voices, Sean produced weather and climate content for the Richmond Times-Dispatch and volunteered for the Sierra Club Virginia Chapter. Previously, he worked at Climate Central, where he partnered with journalists and broadcast meteorologists across the country to tell climate stories that impacted the people they served, from New England, across the Midwest and to the West Coast.
Earlier, he was a meteorologist at WSET in Lynchburg and at WSLS in Roanoke, and away from his television work he frequently visited schools and talked with civic groups about weather and climate.
Sean was born and raised in Richmond and earned his Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in meteorology at Penn State. You may find him hiking near the Blue Ridge or kayaking Virginia’s waters.
