[Minnesota] Those who wanted to learn more about sustainable forestry and logging with horses had a great opportunity at Mark Adams’ farm near Hovland recently. Adams, one of the founding members of the Cook County Sustainable Forestry Cooperative, hosted the event…The co-op, which has aligned itself with the Forest Stewardship Council, was formed to offer an economically feasible way for landowners to manage their land sustainably for old growth forest as well as to benefit financially from that management. Currently there are 21 members who control 1,250 acres, said John Peterson, treasurer for the co-op. Co-op members are particularly interested in not only restoring and protecting their forests, but also producing value-added wood products at the same time, he said.
