On July 23, the monthly resilience workshop at the Old Fork Community Forum will focus on keeping safe during heat waves, like the recent one endured by our region. The monthly forum — hosted by West Marion Inc., People on the Move Old Fort and Appalachian Voices — is designed to create community connections and help residents become more prepared and resilient to acute and everyday disasters, like severe weather events.  create community connections and help residents become more prepared for and able to recover from acute and everyday disasters, like severe weather events.  

The forum will feature an ice cream social, along with information about dealing with heat waves and developing a community heat action plan. 

The workshop will be held on July 23 at 5:30 p.m. at the Old Fort Train Depot, 25 West Main Street, Old Fort, North Carolina. All ages are welcome, and free childcare will be provided.
