‘Rally for the Valley’ in Nashville to Demand TVA Stop Building Gas Plants

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — On Saturday, Sept. 21, people from across the Tennessee Valley will gather in Nashville’s Centennial Park to “Rally for the Valley” ahead of the release of the Tennessee Valley Authority’s new long-range energy plan, the 2025 Integrated Resource Plan.

The federal utility is trying to rush forward one of the largest gas buildouts of any utility in the nation by 2030, with eight methane gas plants and three pipelines proposed, planned or built in the last three years. 

After another summer of record-breaking heat, a new rate hike and a recently announced gas plant expansion, impacted communities are demanding action now. The TVA board has the power to stop the costly fossil fuel buildout and ensure TVA’s IRP advances a just, renewable and affordable energy future.
