Campaigns

Appalachian Voices is involved in numerous campaigns to protect the air, land and water of the Appalachian mountains.

End Mountaintop Removal

Through the building of a national movement, we are working to end mountaintop removal coal mining, which has already destroyed over 500 mountains, buried over 2000 miles of streams, and greatly damaged the health of individuals and the well-being of communities across central and southern Appalachia.

Wise Energy for Virginia

We are a proud partner in the Wise Energy for Virginia coalition, committed to securing a clean energy future for Virginia by promoting clean and affordable energy in order to stop mountaintop removal, create jobs, and move the Commonwealth to science-based reductions in global warming pollution.

North Carolina

We are allied with the Repowering North Carolina coalition which envisions a more just, secure, and healthy environment through the advancement of locally produced, renewable energy sources, energy conservation and efficiency that will create new industry and jobs in North Carolina.

Appalachian Water Watch

This new initiative will help to protect central and southern Appalachia from the negative impacts of the entire life-cycle of coal from mining to processing to burning to waste disposal by giving citizens the tools they need to monitor their own waterways, and to use the findings to advocate for strong laws and accountabilty from government and polluters alike.

ReEnergizing Appalachia

In a number of ways, we support Appalachian citizens in having a active role in deciding what their communties look like in terms of their energy generation, energy consumption and overall good stewardship of their land.
