March 25: Coal plant extensions in Tennessee: What’s going on at TVA?

I know we’re not the only ones asking this, but what is going on at the Tennessee Valley Authority right now? The utility recently eliminated public input on a major decision that could have lasting impacts on our region.
Join Appalachian Voices, Tennessee Citizens for Wilderness Planning, Sierra Club and our partners for a webinar on Wednesday, March 25, to hear from expert speakers on the issue.
Coal Plant Extensions in Tennessee: What’s Going on at TVA?
Webinar | Wednesday, March 25 | 6 to 7:30 p.m. ET
This webinar will cover the latest news from TVA, including how the board of the nation’s largest public power provider recently cut the public out and voted unanimously to scrap plans to retire its Kingston and Cumberland coal plants, even as it brings new methane gas power plants online at the same sites.
Experts will discuss potential environmental and economic impacts on our region — including rate hikes — and community members already harmed by TVA’s coal plants will share their perspectives. The webinar will highlight how Appalachian Voices is responding and what actions we can take together. We’ll also include time for audience Q&A.
