Tell Davidson County Commissioners to defer the Duke Energy rezoning vote!
Duke Energy and Piedmont Natural Gas are planning a massive buildout of dirty energy infrastructure in Davie and Davidson counties on the Yadkin River to ultimately power data centers. The companies want to use land zoned for farms and homes in Davidson County for their project.
The Davie-Davidson Energy Complex includes what would be the largest liquefied gas storage facility in company history, two methane gas-fired power plants on Perkins Game Land across the river in Davie County and a pipeline running under the Yadkin to connect the two sites.
The Davidson County Board of Commissioners is slated to vote on the rezoning on Monday, Nov. 9. Call or message your commissioners between now and Nov. 9 to tell them to defer the vote until they have full information on the impacts!
There are many unanswered questions. Duke must first submit complete information on the project impacts around traffic, sound, light pollution and water usage before a vote can take place so the Commissioners can fully assess the impacts of this project.
