March 6: Clinchco Mineland ReLeaf Quarry Drive community input session

One of the best things we can do for the environment and our local economy is to ensure that former minelands are properly cleaned up, but many unreclaimed mine sites continue to go unreclaimed or are reclaimed poorly. This was the case with the former mine site at Quarry Drive in Clinchco.
That’s why Appalachian Voices is purchasing the Quarry Drive site and working to make sure that it is properly reclaimed. You’re invited to join us for a community input session to discuss future plans for the site. Food and refreshments will be provided!
Quarry Drive Mineland ReLeaf Community Input Session
Friday, March 6 at 6 – 7:30 p.m.
Clinchco Senior Citizens Center
210 Main St., Clinchco, Va., 24226
Once we finalize the purchase of the site, Appalachian Voices will be working to rid it of invasive species, decompact the soil and reforest the site with a mix of native trees.
Afterward, we will be pursuing funding to develop the site for the public’s benefit, and we need to know what sorts of projects you would like to see take shape on the reforested site. Please join us on March 6 to share your thoughts!
