Feb. 26: Davidson County community meeting on SSEP pipeline

Pipeline giant Williams Transco has been granted federal approval for the Southeast Supply Enhancement Project — a new high-pressure methane gas pipeline that would run through Wallburg, Midway and Welcome. The project would also expand a compressor station northwest of Lexington.
While this pipeline would pass through Davidson County communities, it would primarily serve large industrial customers outside the county and create only a handful of permanent local jobs.
Join us and Clean Water for North Carolina on Thursday, Feb. 26, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Midway Church in Lexington for a public meeting to discuss next steps for community pipeline monitoring and actions you can take to protect your community from potential new methane gas power plants.

Projects like SSEP can increase utility bills, pollute our air and water, and threaten the health, safety and quality of life of local residents. That’s why it’s important for our community to stay informed and involved.
At the Feb. 26 public meeting, you can expect to:
- Learn more about the approved pipeline and what it means for Davidson County
- Discuss how to monitor pipeline construction and operations in your community
- Understand potential risks from future methane gas power plants and industrial development
- Find out what actions you can take to help protect your community
