In September and October, both the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality and the State Corporation Commission held hearings on Dominion Energy’s proposed methane gas power plant in Chesterfield County.

The SCC will ultimately decide whether to grant a required certificate for the proposed Chesterfield gas power plant. The SCC makes decisions in Virginia about topics like electric or gas utility rates and whether or not to permit new power plants. The commission accepts public testimony and comments on nearly every case, but often does not receive many comments at all. That’s why your voice is so important.

DEQ is a state agency that will determine whether or not to grant a permit allowing air pollution from the proposed Chesterfield power plant. DEQ released the draft air permit for the Chesterfield plant in early August.
