There’s a new way to cut energy costs and earn cash rewards in the Tennessee Valley! TVA’s EnergyRight® Smart Thermostat Rewards Program offers real benefits for customers who enroll and install a qualifying smart thermostat.

Smart Thermostat Rewards puts money into your pocket and it also helps make sure that electricity is available to the entire region during times of peak energy demand — like a winter cold snap or a summer heat wave.

What is a smart thermostat?

Smart thermostats are Wifi-enabled devices that automatically adjust heating and cooling temperature settings in your home for optimal performance. They are programmable but also adjust between heating and cooling as needed to keep your home comfortable and efficient. Smart thermostats make it easy to control your home’s energy use, reduce energy costs and improve your comfort.

There are also annual participation rewards, on top of your signup bonus:

• $65 per year for full-year participants
• $20 per year for summer-only participants
• You must participate in at least 65% of energy-saving events to qualify.

If your power company is not participating (we’re looking at you, Knoxville Utilities Board!), we encourage you to reach out and find out why. All interested customers across the TVA region should have access to this opportunity!

• I’d like to take advantage of the financial incentives available through TVA’s Smart Thermostat Rewards program! Can you tell me when [insert your power company’s name] will be opting in to that program?
• I see you requested that customers cut their power usage during the recent heat wave. When can I enroll in the Smart Thermostat Rewards program TVA offers to help with those?
• I already have a smart thermostat but I saw that TVA offers $65 bill credits to sign up for their demand response program. Why can I not enroll as a customer of [insert your power company’s name]?
• I’m excited to use the TVA EnergyRight® rebates to purchase a smart thermostat but I don’t see [insert your power company’s name] on the list of participating power providers. Why can’t I enroll as a customer of [insert your power company’s name]?
