Erin Savage

Director of Coal Impacts Program

Originally from Washington state, Erin earned a B.S. in biology and a minor in philosophy from the University of Washington, and a masters of environmental science from Yale.

She joined Appalachian Voices in 2011 to launch a community water monitoring program with community partners across a four state region. Erin now leads Appalachian Voices’ coal impacts team, where she focuses on addressing the impacts of surface coal mining through a multipronged approach — utilizing community organizing, field monitoring, data analysis, litigation and legislation. She also works with multiple regional and national coalitions to define energy-related problems and identify community-centered solutions.

Erin enjoys whitewater kayaking and mountain biking in the mountains.
