Virginia will award over $8 million to SWVA Projects

Virginia Energy’s Abandoned Mine Land Economic Revitalization grant program will award funds to renewable energy, agriculture, recreation and manufacturing projects across the region.

 

50 MW of solar energy coming to former coal mines

Dominion Energy and The Nature Conservancy have partnered to reutilize 1,200 acres from the Red Onion Surface Mine for a solar array in Wise and Dickenson counties.

 

Internet provider to provide 285 jobs in Norton

Governor Northam announced a $5.4 million investment from EarthLink to move its customer service operations back to the U.S. by building a new facility on a reclaimed mine land intersection in Norton.

 

$1.5 million awarded for Appalachian Solar Finance Fund

The Appalachian Regional Commission’s POWER Initiative recently funded a project submitted by Appalachian Voices to catalyze commercial and institutional solar projects for coal-impacted communities throughout Central Appalachia.
