Monitoring at Progress Energy’s two coal ash ponds at the Asheville Steam Plant show levels of arsenic, boron, thallium and other metals that exceed state groundwater standards. These toxic metals may be making their way to the French Broad River.

We need our state and federal agencies to step and protect our water resources from toxic coal ash. We have a petition and plans for a rally on March 22, but a lot needs to happen between now and then.

Please join us at a community meeting this Wednesday, February 15 to learn what you can do to help.

The meeting is at 6p.m. but we will be there starting 5:30p.m. We will meet at Posana’s Cafe, 1 Biltmore Ave (map) and will take the place of the normally scheduled Green Drinks.
