Hellos and Goodbyes

In a busy start to 2019, we would like to welcome three amazing new members to our team!

Chelsea BarnesChelsea Barnes joins as the New Economy Program Manager in our Norton, Va., office. Her master’s degree in environmental management from Duke University and more than 10 years working in clean energy policy, education and outreach will assist her in working to advance solar energy and build new economic opportunities for the coal-bearing region.

maggie stokesWe also welcome Maggie Stokes as our Membership and Development Associate. A lifelong Virginia resident, Maggie holds a painting degree from UVA, maintains a deep love for the Appalachian mountains, and previously pursued a career in animal welfare in Charlottesville and Washington, D.C. She will manage our membership program and strengthen our overall development efforts.

Lesley Garrett joins as our TN Community Outreach Stewards VISTA for 2019, working with our team in Knoxville to promote energy justice for local communities. Lesley graduated from Kentuckians For The Commonwealth’s first Organizer Apprentice program in 2017-18 and completed the Catalyst Project’s 2019 Anne Braden Program. Lesley is currently pursuing a B.A. with sustainability focus from Murray State University.

We also say a most fond farewell to Susan Kruse, our Director of Philanthropy since 2016. Susan will be continuing her 25-year pursuit for environmental protection and justice as the executive director for the Charlottesville Climate Collaborative in Charlottesville, Va. We wish her and the C3 team mountains of success in the future!
