In September, Duke Energy announced that it would postpone construction of a natural gas-fired power plant near Asheville, N.C., from 2023 to 2027. According to the Citizen-Times, the environmental advocacy group Sierra Club applauded the delay but would rather see plans for this “peaker” plant dropped. — Elizabeth E. Payne
