My dream scenario: Mr. Obama initiates a national "Climate Corps". He declares climate change a national security issue (as has the Pentagon). The best minds tell us the danger is even worse than the danger of terrorism. Far worse!

Instead of planes, ships and tanks, the federal government contracts with private industry (with bids, Haliburton!) for new solar and wind projects (which unlike war materials will eventually pay for themselves, and then reduce our taxes year by year, with the profits).

This effort would create a huge increase in employment. ALSO: For ANYONE losing a job working in the coal or oil industries due to a shift away from dirty energy, that person is "hired" at the same or higher salary to help get these new projects off the ground. This includes retraining and should keep them employed for decades.

This is far more compassionate than industries who simply fire workers no longer needed.
